HIS NAME IS VALVLE. OH HELL YES.
Valve Confirms Games, Steam for Macs in AprilWith the announcement of Portal 2, I was starting to feel a bit weepy about permanently ditching Windows several years ago. I loved HL2 and Portal, and spent more time than I care to admit playing CS:S. This announcement means that I won't have to kludge together a Linux solution if I ever feel the gamin' itch again. It is a good day.
There's also supposedly going to be a co-op aspect to the game as well. So that's what? 5 games you can play on mac? I keed I keed.
ReplyDeleteI have no problem with macs, I just don't relish the thought at shelling out $2k for a desktop that's less powerful than my $600 custom build, that I can only play WoW and a few other games on.
As soon as there are a lot more gaming options and I can build my own mac for cheaper, I'll gladly consider switching. The former might happen, but not the latter.
I would have a hard time refuting the points you've made here, but because I am no longer much of a gamer and foremost a scientific programmer, Macs make a lot of sense. They are a very stable, easy to maintain machine that has an excellent Unix backbone. It's a great way to continue to have access to commercial software that I just can't ditch (e.g. MS Office) and the expected Linuxy fare such as a package manager, emacs, etc.
ReplyDeleteYou're absolutely correct, though- they are more expensive and have few (until now, any?) gaming options. OpenArena is fun, though.
